Diastemas
Some people have small gaps between their teeth and they don’t find this esthetically pleasing. With composite it’s very easy to close these small gaps in order to create a more harmonious smile.

Quick composite mock-up
During the intake I can make a quick 5-minute composite mock-up to show the possible end result of the treatment. In these quick mock-ups we often see a difference in color between the teeth and the composite and the margins are visible. But by making this quick mock-up the patient can already see if they like what I have in mind. Because there is sometimes a difference in what I find esthetic and what the patient finds esthetic.
Rubberdam isolation
In order to get the best possible bonding to the tooth and to make sure we have a really clean operator field I use rubberdam isolation in all restorative cases.
Surface texture
A natural tooth is never really flat. After applying the composite layers I take around 30 minutes to do the final polishing and create a natural surface texture.
Directly after the treatment
Due to the use of rubberdam the natural teeth dry out, therefore we often see a small difference in color of the composite and the tooth. Also the gums are retracted due to the use of rubberdam. In 24 - 48 hours the gums will move to the original position and the teeth will rehydrate. Therefore you can asses the end result after 24 - 48 hours.
Evaluation after 2 weeks
After two weeks a 20 minute evaluation appointment is scheduled. During this appointment the final result will be evaluated and we will take the same photographs as we did during the intake. During this appointment we can also polish or correct small things if needed.
Close-up photo of the end result
the diastemas are closed and the wear is restored. There is no visible distinction between the tooth and the composite.

Please note: the results of this treatment may vary from patient to patient. Your own treatment may differ from what’s prescribed here. During the intake we will discuss different treatment options and discuss what’s best for you and what you can expect.
